Kia hiwa rā! Kia hiwa rā!

Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Kōhanga Reo o Ngāio

After many years of planning, patience, and unwavering commitment from our whānau, our long‑awaited renovations at 58 Tarikākā Street, Ngāio are finally underway.

This marks an exciting new chapter for our kōhanga and the growth of our kaupapa. While our Ngāio whare is being rebuilt and upgraded, we have relocated to our temporary home at 46 Phillip Street, Johnsonville. This space allows us to continue nurturing and educating our mokopuna in a safe, warm, kaupapa Māori environment while construction is completed.

Once the renovations are completed in Ngāio, our kōhanga will proudly expand from 23 tamariki to 35 tamariki, allowing more whānau to join our hāpori. Looking ahead, we will be operating two kōhanga reo, one in Waitohi (Johnsonville) and one in Ngāio. This will give whānau greater choice and flexibility and ensure our kaupapa continues to flourish across both communities.

For whānau expressing interest in enrolment, your application will help us understand which location best suits your needs once both kōhanga are operating. We welcome all whānau who are committed to the kaupapa of Te Kōhanga Reo and who wish to see their tamariki grow in te reo, tikanga, and mātauranga Māori.
